First off, I didn’t buy it from Amazon. I purchased it locally at a store sale, and improved over Amazon’s price. Not bragging… well, maybe a little. Just a case of being at the right place at the right time.

That said, I still feel like this watch is a great price from Amazon. It’s just that nice!

It was the largest watch in the jewelry case, which is what first caught my eye. I’m a big guy, and just don’t care for the weenie-size offerings of most manufacturers. There are some bigger watches on Amazon, but this one at 1 3/4″ case diameter is perfect without being gaudy. A word of caution: it is very heavy at 1/2″ thick, and if the band isn’t tight tight, the crown will be jabbing the back of your hand when your arm is down.

One reviewer stated the second hand wasn’t aligned with the tick marks. Mine is spot on. Another reviewer stated the glow-in-the-dark feature was less than stellar, however I haven’t had opportunity to check that out yet so I can’t comment.

This watch is nice, it was bought at Kay Jewelers as a wedding gift from my wife. I love the black display against the stainless steel and the large numbers and simple design make it stand out from more cluttered looking watches. So far it has kept perfect time, and I have washed my hands wearing it countless times and it doesn’t fog or any other negative effects. My only real problems are while it has a glow in the dark substance on the hands and hours that looks very cool it only works when going from direct sunlight to very very dark. Also it takes until about 5AM for the “Day” to change over the the correct day as it cycles off the old day into German? and then to the correct English day. I work graves so that is 5 hours when the day function is useless. Also the OCD in me doesn’t like the fact that the second hand stops in between the second hashmarks on the dial.

I purchaced the 96C101 which was a bit more colorful than the 96C100. Other than the color and Roman vs Arabic numerals these watches are identical. My watch runs great, looks great, is big since I like big, and trouble free. I am waiting for the 96C100 to drop a bit more in price. My son picked the 96C100 up for $99 and he loves it. Me I would like to have both and just waiting for the price to drop down again.

I researched the Invict watches and they are no comparison to the Bulova Watches. I had two other Bulova watches that were 35 years old and were stolen during Hurricane Katrina. They worked for 35 years and never needed anything done to them. They would have been worth a lot of money today since they had 18K gold in the face and band.

The Bulova is worth more than the Invicta, but I am good at pricing watches, wait for the Stainless steel Bulova’s to come down to around $100-#120 and the stainless steel Invicta’s to be under $50 for best consumer price.

I must give Bulova and Amazon a 5 star for the Bulova Watches. If you want a good cheap watch for under $50 look at Invicta, if you want an outstanding watch look at Bulova.

On a side note, the Japanese Quartz is every bit as good as the Swiss Quartz in keeping good time. I check my watches with the Navy Ship Cesium Clock and Navy GPS time throughout the year and the Japanese quartz has been 1-2 seconds per year more accurate then the Swiss Quartz Bulova I owned before. I believe the difference was more related to the two different manufacturer batteries I had in each watch. The battery in my old watch had to be replaced about every 4-5 years, which is about normal for those type of watches. The digital illuminated watches only last for about 3 years.

This watch looks and feels like very high quality. The steel is well polished and the face is beautiful. The large numbers (all 12 of them) are very distinct and make it easy to tell the time. Many watches have 4 numbers and then dashes, but this watch is unique with all twelve large numbers. It keeps time very well and could easily be your low maintenance everyday watch. Some people prefer a quartz watch like this because it only needs battery maintenance once per year, rather than having to reset the clock every time you let it sit for 3 days like most automatics. Taking away one star because i don’t like day dates on my watches. I believe watches are show pieces like jewelry and I don’t want to mess with dates every other month. My cell phone is my gadget device.

I bought this watch as a gift for my son. I want him to have a watch that will last so he can pass it on to my grandson. I had it sized and tried it on. Guess what, my son is not getting this watch! I like it so much I am keeping it for myself. I recently bought a very thin cased Stuhrling with a leather band and I will give that to my son instead.

This is a large, heavy watch as other reviewers point out but, if fitted properly, the weight is not a problem. It only really becomes a problem if it is too loose and the watch starts rotating on your wrist. Mine fits like a glove so, I am not aware of the weight at all. It is comfortable and looks great. I guess my grandson will inherit this heirloom from Grandpa rather than Daddy because Grandpa is keeping it and not giving it to Daddy.
